Raiders Under Contract: CB Jack Jones

Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Jack Jones was perhaps the most unlikely positive addition the club made to its roster this past season.

Jones, who was selected by the New England Patriots in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, was signed by New England to a rookie deal worth $4.4-million, with a $747,000 signing bonus.

After 18 games with the club, the Patriots waived Jones back in November. The Raiders claimed him the very next day.

Jones had been known for his history with Raiders Coach Antonio Pierce, who coached the 26-year-old cornerback at the high school and college levels. That connection proved to be quite beneficial when Jones joined the Silver and Black.

In just his fourth game with Las Vegas, Jones recorded a pick-six in the Raiders' 63-21 vanquishing of the Los Angeles Chargers. He also added five combined tackles and a pass defensed in the victory.

The very next week, Jones took another interception to the house in Las Vegas' 20-14 upset over the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day. He again added five combined tackles and a pass defensed.

Jones would finish the season with 25 combined tackles, one for a loss, four passes defensed, and two interceptions returned for touchdowns for the Raiders.

If Jones can continue his production in his second season with Las Vegas, or perhaps even elevate it, he could be seeing a big-time extension even before his contract year in 2025.

Especially with Pierce staying at the helm, there's plenty of reason to believe Jones can only get better. Fans should be excited for what is in store for him next season.

From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
