Here's a quick Thursday night recap:

• Raiders WR Denarius Moore (five receptions, 123 yards, two TD) had a huge night in the wake of Jacoby Ford's first-quarter foot sprain. Moore is a nice free-agent target if you can get him, but if Ford somehow makes a rapid recovery, temper your expectations. I think Ford would have been Carson Palmer's prime target if he had stayed in the game.
• Speaking of Palmer, he looked pretty good again, but note that he threw only 20 times. The Raiders are a run-first team, and that will limit his upside. Palmer is a matchup fantasy starter, not an every-week play.
• Most people thought Raiders RB Michael Bush would have a good game, but 242 yards from scrimmage? I'm speechless. Congratulations if you started him.
• WR Vincent Brown looks like a force to be reckoned with for the Chargers after catching five passes for 97 yards and a score. Philip Rivers seemed to like throwing to Brown, and he probably hates Vincent Jackson after V-Jax quit on a fourth-quarter interception. And "quit" is being nice.
• And speaking of Rivers, here's an in-game tweet from San Diego Union-Tribune Chargers' beat writer Kevin Acee: "I believe Philip Rivers was not hurt before this game. I don't know if I will believe it after this game."

• Texans WR Andre Johnson didn't practice Thursday, but his hamstring is reportedly improving, and the Texans are likely to make a decision after Johnson runs again today. Johnson doesn't feel a pull in the back of his hamstring anymore, so he might actually play this week. Stay tuned.
• The Giants won't get RB Ahmad Bradshaw back this week, but they might have WR Hakeem Nicks (hamstring), who practiced Thursday. Would you start Brandon Jacobs against the 49ers' league-best rum defense? That's a tough one, and depends on who else you have.
• Cardinals QB Kevin Kolb (foot) will probably miss another game Sunday. If you're desperate in a two-QB league, pick up John Skelton. Skelton isn't good, but he threw for 222 yards last week.
• Falcons WR Julio Jones was limited in Thursday's practice due to a hamstring issue. It doesn't sound serious, but let's keep an eye on this.
• Ravens S Ed Reed (shoulder) and LB Terrell Suggs (knee) didn't practice Thursday, and they're uncertain for Sunday's game at Seattle. Watch their progress, especially if you're itching to bench Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch or WR Sidney Rice due to a bad matchup. Rice was limited in Thursday's practice due to a foot injury, but is expected to play.
• Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray thinks that Felix Jones - who will probably miss another game due to his sprained ankle - is still the team's starting tailback. Murray is too nice, and very, very wrong.
• Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (hamstring) was limited in Thursday's practice after sitting out Wednesday. Gresham is getting closer to a return, but might not be ready yet.
• Hey. Dwayne Bowe owners: Your guy might be shadowed by Broncos CB Champ Bailey on Sunday. Don't bench Bowe, but keep it in mind if he doesn't have a big day.
• Speaking of the Broncos, I don't know how long they'll use their read-option offense, but as long as they do, start Tim Tebow unless you have another elite QB. The guy has thrown for 457 yards and five TDs in three starts while running for 240 yards in that span, including a 118-yard day last week. I don't care if he's got the worst throwing mechanics in NFL history - he's fantasy gold.
• It sounds like Joseph Addai's hamstring will make him miss another game for the Colts. You might remember that rookie Delone Carter started in Addai's place last week, but got yanked early after a fumble, giving way to Donald Brown (16 carries, 70 yards). I'd prefer Carter to Brown this week, but both are risky.
• Patriots' RBs BenJarvus Green-Ellis (toe) and Kevin Faulk (knee) were both limited in Thursday's practice. I'm worried about the Law Firm for this week.
• Saints WR Lance Moore missed Thursday's practice due to hamstring tightness, and his status for Sunday is TBD. RB Mark Ingram (heel) practiced on a limited basis, and might return. That would give the Saints a four-headed running back monster, and the only one I'd start is Darren Sproles.
• This week's guest on Revis Island will be Wes Welker, and it sounds like Welker is in for a bit of a beating. You have to start him, though.
• Rams QB Sam Bradford (ankle) was limited in Thursday's practice, but appears to be tracking toward another start.
• Titans QB Matt Hasselbeck (knee) was limited in Thursday's practice, but should play on Sunday.
• It sounds like RB Tashard Choice will make his Redskins' debut against the Dolphins. I'm a Roy Helu owner, and while I'm still starting him in one league, I'm terrified that Mike Shanahan will screw me. If you were going to play Helu, stick with the plan, and cross your fingers.
• Finally, thanks to every one of our country's veterans. Your bravery and sacrifice can never be appreciated enough.

• Raiders RB Darren McFadden wasn't at Monday's walkthrough practice, and his chances for playing Thursday against the Chargers don't look good. Multiple reports indicate that McFadden is unlikely to play, with one noting that he hasn't started running yet due to hs sprained foot. Plan to be without McFadden again.
• Speaking of the Raiders, Sunday's benching of WR Darrius Heyward-Bey is still a mystery. Head coach Hue Jackson says it wasn't a big deal, and was more about the sets the team was using than anything else. I have no idea what will happen with DHB this week, but I'd keep him on my roster for now if I had the bench space, and hope that Week 9 was just a brain cramp by Jackson. Preseason sleeper Jacoby Ford looks like an interesting free-agent pickup after catching five passes for 105 yards and a TD against the Broncos.
• Chargers RB Ryan Mathews (groin) was limited in Monday's practice, but the team hopes to get him back on Thursday. Mathews was a gametime decision on Sunday, and was seen on the field stretching before the game, so his return seems very possible.
• Browns RB Peyton Hillis (hamstring) has already been ruled out for Week 10. Since Montario Hardesty (calf) won't play either, can you consider starting Chris Ogbonayya against a bad Rams' run defense? I'll give the same answer I did last week: Only if your alternatives are really shaky.
• Cowboys WR Miles Austin is expected to miss the next 2-4 weeks due to his latest hamstring injury. Laurent Robinson will start in Austin's place, and since Tony Romo has been throwing to Robinson quite a bit, he's a terrific free-agent pickup this week.
• The Cowboys might get RB Felix Jones (ankle) back this week after a three-game absence. If Jones does return, I really think the best he can hope for is a timeshare (and probably the short end of it) with DeMarco Murray. Murray is pretty clearly a better runner than Jones.
• Why did I wait this long to get to Frank Gore? Because the X-rays on his sprained ankle were negative, and it looks like he'll play Sunday against the Giants.
• The Lions have brought back RB Kevin Smith. That doesn't mean you should pick up Smith, but it probably means he's extra insurance for Jahvid Best (concussion), who doesn't seem likely to return in Week 10.
• Bills PK Rian Lindell hurt his shoulder on Sunday, and will probably miss 4-6 weeks. Expect the Bills to have a new kicker by today or tomorrow.
• Jets RB Shonn Greene suffered a head injury on Sunday, but has reportedly passed his concussion tests and will play this week.
• It's Tamme Time again in Indianapolis. With Dallas Clark possibly suffering a season-ending leg injury, Jacob Tamme takes over as the Colts' starting tight end. You might remember Tamme as the guy who took the fantasy world by storm in 2010 with 67 receptions and four touchdowns after Clark got hurt. You might also remember that Tamme had a pretty good quarterback throwing to him last year, and doesn't now. Check Clark's disappointing stats for what that might mean, and temper your expectations for Tamme. He's not a high-priority free-agent pickup. 
• The Redskins are apparently sticking with QB John Beck, which will result in Beck sticking with RB Roy Helu as his safety valve. Helu, who caught 14 passes for 105 yards against the 49ers, appears to be a big-time PPR weapon, and should start in all formats.
• The Cardinals aren't yet sure if QB Kevin Kolb (turf toe) will play against the Eagles.
• Bears WR Earl Bennett caught five passes for 95 yards and a touchdown last night in his first action since Week 2. More importantly, Bennett appeared to be the only wideout that Jay Cutler really trusts (the rest of them looked awful). Add Bennett if you can, especially in PPR leagues.
• The Bengals expect TE Jermaine Gresham (hamstring) to return to practice on Wednesday.
• I think the fans in my adopted hometown of Charlotte need to worry about more important things than who stands and who sits during a game.
• "Encouraging signs" for Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw (foot) and WR Hakeem Nicks (hamstring)? I'll take that, though Nicks seems like a much better bet than Bradshaw to play this week.
• Plan to be in wait-and-see mode again on Texans WR Andre Johnson (hamstring).
• Sam Bradford's ankle might be an issue again this week for the Rams, who also lost WR Greg Salas for the season with a broken leg. Austin Pettis caught four passes for 43 yards in Salas' slot role after the injury, and could be worth adding in deep PPR leagues.
• The Titans think eight-man fronts were the main reason why RB Chris Johnson had only nine yards in the second half against the Bengals. This week, CJ2K and the Titans visit the Panthers and their 27th-ranked rushing defense. Have you kept the faith?

• Darren McFadden (foot) hasn't practiced this week for the Raiders, and while he hasn't officially been ruled out, look for Michael Bush to carry the load. Bush and rookie Taiwan Jones have been splitting first-team reps in practice, but here's a note from the San Francisco Chronicle: "Jones, the rookie speedster, will be a nice change of pace back but expect Bush to be the bell cow against the Broncos." I've gotten a few questions about Jones, and if you want to grab him as a desperation flier in a deep league, I guess that's OK. He could break a big run for all we know, but he's more likely not to get just a handful of touches. The guy has had five NFL carries, and will be playing behind a pretty good back this week.
• The San Diego Union-Tribune calls Chargers RB Ryan Mathews "iffy, at best" for this week's game against the Packers, as he hasn't practiced this week due to a groin injury. Mike Tolbert looks like a really nice fantasy play against the Packers. Get ready to start Tolbert if you have him.
• The latest on Ahmad Bradshaw's broken foot from the New York Daily News is that he won't need surgery, and still has a chance to play against the Patriots, though he reportedly told some teammates that he'll miss a couple of weeks. I know Bradshaw has played through his foot injuries before, but I have Brandon Jacobs in one league, and I'm planning to start him on Sunday. If you own Bradshaw, don't count on him.
• Giants WR Hakeem Nicks plans to sit out practice again today, and test his hamstring on Saturday. This one sounds close to 50-50, and we could be heading for a gametime decision. My gut says Nicks will play, but maybe that's because I've been predicting a Giants' victory all week. Whether or not Nicks can go, get Mario Manningham and Victor Cruz in your lineups. This could be a shootout.
• Remember your byes: The Panthers, Vikings, Jaguars and Lions are off this week.
• Browns RB Peyton Hillis (hamstring) practiced Thursday, and says he'll return this week after being almost non-existent since Week 2. Figure that Hillis isn't just blowing smoke, but make sure he's active on Sunday morning, just to be safe. I'll tweet news on Hillis and others when I see it. Those of you that picked up Browns RB Chris Ogbonnaya shouldn't get your hopes up.
• The Broncos seem to think that RB Willis McGahee will play on Sunday, less than two weeks after surgery on his broken right hand. I'm a little worried about a late scratch if John Fox is concerned that McGahee can't protect the ball, but the smart bet is that if he practices again today, he'll play.
• We're tracking toward another gametime decision for Texans WR Andre Johnson (hamstring).
• There could be a duel of backup quarterbacks in Arizona on Sunday. John Skelton is expected to start in place of Kevin Kolb (toe) for the Cardinals, while Rams QB Sam Bradford (ankle) only participated in individual drills on Thursday. A.J. Feeley would make his third straight start if Bradford can't go. Is it too late for FOX make Rams-Cardinals the national game instead of Giants-Patriots?
• Cowboys RB Felix Jones (ankle) still isn't practicing, so look for a healthy dose of DeMarco Murray on Sunday. The Seahawks (league-best 3.2 YPC) have a really tough rushing defense, though.
• Falcons WR Julio Jones was limited in Thursday's practice, but it sounds like he'll play after missing two games with a hamstring injury.
• Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas (hamstring) was limited in Thursday's practice. I like Thomas, but his injury issues are getting annoying, and I won't trust him this week until I know he's active.
• Colts RB Joseph Addai has been practicing this week, and should be ready to go after being active only in an emergency capacity for Week 8. Who's excited? Anyone? Hellooooooo ....
• Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (hamstring) hasn't practiced yet this week.
• Redskins TE Fred Davis was limited in Thursday's practice after resting on Wednesday. Davis' ankle sprain is mild, and he should be OK to play.
• Chargers WR Vincent Jackson (finger) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, while teammate Malcom Floyd (hip) wasn't available and is far from a sure thing for Sunday. The Packers have a terrible pass defense, so V-Jax could have a nice bounceback day for his frustrated fantasy owners.
• 49ers TE Vernon Davis hates getting double-covered. Don't we all?
• Emmanuel Sanders' mother passed away this week, and the Steelers aren't expecting him to play against the Ravens.
• Eagles TE Brent Celek missed Thursday's practice due to a bruised hip, but expects to play Monday. Teammate LeSean McCoy also missed practice due to a stomach flu, but he should be fine.
• RB Mark Ingram (heel) still isn't practicing for the Saints. Ugh. Maybe this is Pierre Thomas' week to play well, since he let us down last week? The Bucs are ranked 23rd in the league against the run.
• On the other side of the ball in the Bucs-Saints game, I'm excited for owners of LeGarrette Blount. Their long-awaited explosion is almost here, as the Saints are giving up 5.5 yards per carry.
• More reps for Patriots WR Taylor Price, huh? He can stretch the field, too? I saw this movie last year, and it was called The Ballad of Brandon Tate, so pardon me for not getting too excited. I'm a little bit intrigued, though.
• This week's guest on Revis Island is likely to be Bills WR Steve Johnson. Enjoy your visit, Stevie! I'll be benching you in favor of Mario Manningham in a two-WR league.

• The Giants have a couple of fantasy stars that we'll need to track this week. WR Hakeem Nicks' hamstring has him day-to-day, but the team says that the plan is for him "not to miss anything." RB Ahmad Bradshaw re-aggravated a foot injury on Sunday, leaving the game and then returning later. Bradshaw's foot is apparently just very sore, and it doesn't sound like he'll miss time. Remember that his foot issues caused him to miss a lot of practice time last season, but he was always ready on gameday.
• Chargers RB Ryan Mathews left last night's game in the fourth quarter due to a groin injury, and his status for Week 9 is TBD. It sounds like Mike Tolbert is likely to return.
• The Week 9 bye teams are the Panthers, Lions, Jaguars and Vikings. Enjoy your week off, Cam Newton. My kids will miss you.
• Once again, we're probably going to need to wait until late in the week to see if Texans WR Andre Johnson will return from his hamstring injury. Johnson has missed four games so far.
• Don't expect any updates on Raiders RB Darren McFadden (foot) until Wednesday. In other Raiders' news, you should worry if you own any of their wide receivers. The team is reportedly close to signing T.J. Houshmandzadeh, a former teammate and workout partner of new QB Carson Palmer. I guess an old, slow WR will provide some balance for all their young, fast guys.
• Browns RB Montario Hardesty will miss at least a couple of games due to a torn calf muscle. The team expects Peyton Hillis (hamstring) to return this week, so you probably shouldn't waste a valuable waiver claim on Chris Ogbonnaya.
• The Redskins are hoping that TE Fred Davis (ankle) will be ready to practice on Wednesday; if you own Davis, you're probably OK this week. The 'Skins also claimed RB Tashard Choice off waivers from the Cowboys, so if you think this team's backfield situation is confusing now, just wait a week or two. Choice hurt his shoulder a couple of weeks ago, and his prognosis isn't clear.
• A day after giving a shared workload to Javon Ringer and saying that the Titans' running back rotation would depend on the "flow of the game," head coach Mike Munchak declared that Chris Johnson is still his starting tailback. I own Johnson on two miserable teams, and I'm not sure this makes me happy, because it's going to push me to keep him in the lineup. CJ2K's game-by-game rushing totals are: 24-53-21-101-51-18-34. He could be a decent fantasy back this season, but if you're still waiting for his breakout, you've crossed the line into stubbornness. It could happen, but it probably won't.
• Unless something changes, look for Bucs RB LeGarrette Blount to return this week after missing two games with a knee injury.
• There's no Week 9 update yet on Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (hamstring) who was a late scratch on Sunday. RB Cedric Benson will return this week following his one-game suspension, but Bernard Scott had a decent game against the Seahawks. Hmm ...
• Colts RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) was active on Sunday, but the plan was for him to stay on the sideline unless there was an emergency. He'll probably play this week, but let's see what happens in practice. If you got a little excited by Donald Brown's modestly productive day against the Titans, you should probably get over it.
• Falcons WR Julio Jones (hamstring) was back on the practice field Monday, and even though he was limited, it sounds like he'll be ready to go with week after missing a couple of games.
• "We'll see" was Felix Jones' response when asked Monday if he'll return to action in Week 9. If you own DeMarco Murray, keep your fingers crossed. I'd let Murray carry at least as much as a healthy Jones if I was the Cowboys, but they might not agree.
• Cardinals QB Kevin Kolb is day-to-day with a turf toe injury. Is it bad that one of my teams will really be hurt if Kolb can't play this week?
• Broncos head coach John Fox said that QB Tim Tebow will start again this week, but it sounds like he's on a short leash. Since Tebow has rushed for an average of 61 yards over the last two games, he's a fantasy starter for as long as he's a real-life starter.
• In other Broncos' news, RB Willis McGahee is still day-to-day with his broken hand.
• It sounds like 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh is starting to like WR Michael Crabtree as much as I do.
• Baby steps, Sam Bradford. No hurry. We can wait.
